The course aims to provide a comprehensive and stimulating education for those wishing to realize ambitions in the Fashion industry.
The course ensures students become fully conversant with a range of skills relevant to the central areas of Fashion Design including fashion illustration & Visual studies, textiles, design development, historical studies, pattern making, garment manufacture, Computer Aided Design, hand embroidery, draping, textile printing, pattern grading, fashion business studies and market research. All these modules would be covered during the first three semesters.
In the 4th semester students will be required to produce the draft of main Final Major project (FMP), which is presented to the course leader. The FMP draft should also include a topic for academic research in support of the designing of the final collection.
In the 5th semester you will be expected to demonstrate ongoing progress with your FMP research, design, manufacture and realization of a collection of six complete outfits, supported by a professionally presented design portfolio.
On completion of the 5th Semester students present their Final Major Project to the internal examiners and then to the external examiner.
Entry Requirements
- Applicants should pass the GCE A/L’s with a fluency in English. Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements and who are able to demonstrate an appropriate level of ability will also be considered
- Applicants with O/L’s can join on completion of the Foundation in Art and design course
